A lot of you have been following along and know about our recent trip, with 1 very important goal… to see PENGUINS! 🐧 🐧 🐧
So, this is my 1st post as a collection. Since, we had tons of pics along the way I’d thought I’d break it down by each port. So sail through this series with us as we cruise on the Norwegian Sun. We set sail in Valparaiso, Chile, headed south rounding cape horn and ended in Bueno Aires, Argentina.
And don’t miss this ship! We are in a hurry to see these cute little guys -> 🐧 🐧 🐧 before they migrate for the winter… will we make it in time???
But….. before we can even think about adventures it’s time to recoup with a couple of days in Santiago, Chile! After some very long flights we settled into our room at the Luciano K Hotel. It was a lovely boutique hotel, with original tile and marble, comfy, and decorated well. The hotel is in a great location with plenty to walk to, including San Cristobal Hill. The hotel has a nice rooftop patio, with a pool and bar, served an excellent breakfast and even brought truffles in the evening. I would completely recommend staying here. It was the perfect place to refresh for our exciting journey.
For day 1 we slept in a bit late, but can you blame us? Not wanting to miss out we walked to San Cristobal Hill and road the funicular up. The views of the city were amazing. The gardens, church and displays made for a relaxing stroll.
In the evening we ate dinner at the Patio Bellavista which was a venue full of restaurants and shops. Then headed back to the hotel’s rooftop bar for some cervezas and this view.
Day 2 was filled with handicrafts (yep, already filling my bag with souvenirs), more good food, and utilizing the hop on/hop off Turistik Tour buses. This was such a convenient way to get orientated with the city, learn some history, and check out locations at your leisure.
We were so happy we decided to start our trip here. The gorgeous backdrop of the Andes mountains, amazing weather, so much good food, and more sights than we could see made it completely worth it. I have a feeling Santiago will be a place we’ll try to visit again, and I hope we do! 💖
